Fajr music fest to screen docs on music

The 34th Fajr Int’l Music Festival is to screen 25 documentaries on Iranian music.

The 34th edition of the Fajr International Music Festival (FIMF) has scheduled to review documentaries on Iranian music.

The organizers announced on Wednesday that a lineup of 25 documentaries will go on screen at the Iranian House of Cinema during the 34th FIMF.

Notable in the lineup are ‘Six Centuries and Six Years’ by Mojtaba Mirtahmasb, ‘Iranian Symphony’ by Vahid Mousaeean and ‘A French Musician in Qajar Court’ by Mehran Pourmandan.

‘Two Kamanchehs’ by Bahman Kiarostami, ‘The Last Bakhshi’ by Farshad Fadaeean and ‘Fight Feast’ by Seyyed-Vahid Hosseini are also in the lineup.

Some of the most popular performers at the music section of the event are Mohsen Ebrahimzadeh, Behnam Bani, Hamed Homayoun, Puzzle Band, Macan Band and Alireza Talischi.

The FIMF, Iran’s most prominent music festival, is annually held in different sections, wherein many renowned national and international musicians perform in diverse genres.

Founded in 1986 as a national event, the festival was held as an international event after in 1990s for the first time and several foreign ensembles came to Iran to perform in different musical genres.

The attendance of many well-known world musicians from all around the world paved the way for a more effective intercultural musical dialogue between Iran and other countries and kindled new inspirations in our musical context.

Slated for February 13-19, 2019, Conference Center of Tehran’s Milad Tower will host the 34th FIMF.
